Bottled water sales have overtaken soda in the US.

According to Business Insider, "for the first time ever, Americans drank more bottled water than soda." Statistics from 2016 show that sales of the stuff reached 12.8 billion gallons, or about 39 gallons per person. This number beat soda's average per person volume of 38.5 for the same year. And what we're seeing is a very clear trend that is showing no signs of stopping. Year after year, Americans are choosing bottled water over their sugary, bubbly and often canned counterpart.

americans are saying no to soda and yes to bottled water

Soda, which at one time dominated sales in American supermarkets, is now being replaced by something that you can find in your home for free. In fact, a recent study showed that 64% of bottled water is indeed just regular old tap! And if you've got a filter pitcher that's rated to remove more tap water contaminants than you could ever possibly count...well then chances are you just might be drinking some of the best water in the world!
