We want to let you know about an important update to the Aquagear filter as of June 5, 2021.
Never before in Aquagear’s history have we received as many inquiries about any water contaminant as we have about PFOA/PFOS (“Forever Chemicals”), microplastics, and a new class of NSF-designated “emerging contaminants” in the last year.
To keep Aquagear on the cutting edge, the newest version of the Aquagear filter is now designed and tested to remove 99% of PFOA/PFOS (“Forever Chemicals”), 99.965% of microplastics, and all fifteen of the NSF 401 "emerging contaminants," including trace pharmaceuticals and new kinds of herbicides and pesticides.
In order to prioritize these new and emerging contaminants, the Aquagear filter will no longer be designed or tested to remove fluoride, thallium, nitrite, nitrate, chloramine, arsenic, and chromium 6.
Click here to see the complete list of contaminants that the newest version of the Aquagear filter is tested to remove. In addition to PFOA/PFOS, microplastics, and emerging contaminants, you will also find that Aquagear effectively removes chlorine, lead, mercury, cadmium, copper, asbestos, atrazine, chloroform, particulates, benzene, and over 50 more health-related contaminants.
We have also adjusted Aquagear’s filter capacity to align with industry standards. The newest version of the Aquagear filter is tested to 120 gallons of water, which is six months for the average customer (three times longer than the leading competitor). This is based on a standard calculation of 20 gallons water usage per month.
We believe that these changes make Aquagear the best filter pitcher available for the contaminants that matter most to the most people. However, we understand if these changes mean Aquagear isn’t the best fit for what you’re looking for.
